Quercus trojana Macedonian oak

A young Macedonian oak appeared at the Van Patten House (579 Alvarado Row) in 2024, on the Campus Drive side of the front garden. Its serrated leaves resemble those of Q. castaneifolia, but are broader toward the middle. Some of its dead leaves still clung to the branches in December. Another of similar size is just right of the main west entrance to Frost Amphitheater.
