Arundo donax
giant reed

Poaceae (grass family)
Arundo donax. Hitchcock, A.S. 1951. Manual of the Grasses of the United States, ed. 2, rev. A. Chase. U.S.D.A. Misc. Publ. 200. U.S. Government Printing Office, Washington, DC

Walk along Constanzo St. between Santa Ynez and Dolores to see a copse of giant reed. Like the naturalized grasses Cortaderia selloana and C. jubata, it has been widely planted as an ornamental and has also proved to be a serious wildland weed.
