Quercus trojana Macedonian oak
Southeastern Italy to Turkey
A young Macedonian oak appeared at the Van Patten House (579 Alvarado Row) in 2024, on the Campus Drive side of the front garden. Its serrated leaves are similar to those of Q. castaneifolia, but wider in the middle. Some of its dead leaves still clung to the branches in December.
