Prunus × subhirtella ‘Pendula’ weeping higan cherry
Japan
This graceful tree has branches sometimes sweeping the ground and pink flowers in mid spring. It is considered by many a worthy tree even if it never bloomed. A glorious specimen planted in 2020 is at 716 Alvarado Road. A smaller one is around the corner, on the Coronado Ave side of 691 Salvatierra Street. Two used to grow in planters between Hoover Tower and the adjacent exhibition pavilion.
