Shrub, 2–5 feet tall; narrow, opposite, dark green, 4-ranked leaves; 2 spikes of many small, pink to purple flowers in the spring, each with two exserted stamens and a single long style.

Citrus Court (in bloom Feb 2009); Amy Blue Garden (garden eliminated by new Business School); Lyman Residences (east side); Book Store north side; front and sides of Dining Services, off Pampas Lane.

The genus is now considered to be Veronica.
